The sun glistened over the clear blue sky as the chirping of birds echoed through the air. A small blue jay flew about as it soared across several trees and landed on the branch of one of them. The blue jay looked around slightly as its' head cocked back and forth.

As it did, a quiet but slithering figure etched along the branch above it. The hissing it made was silent but still noticeable as the bird looked around confused. The hidden figure slowly lowered itself, as its' mouth opened slowly ready to strike.

*sink...*

The birds head snapped upwards at the sudden noise.

*SINK!!*

The blue jay screeched in shock and took flight rapidly as a large scaled body slammed into the branch it was on. Not taking another second the bird soared off as the body fell off the branch and hit the grass hard, revealing it to be a medium sized snake.

With its' head noticeably gone.

"Tch, another inedible one huh? Is this place filled with nothing but death filled wildlife or is it just me?"

A figure walked up to the headless snake carcass and knelled down as a black metallic hand picked it off the ground . The sunlight seemed to pick up was it revealed a young man with spiky reddish-brown hair and silver eyes. The man wore what appeared to be a light black coat with a fur covered hood on top of a red shirt. The sleeves of the coat stretched along his arm but didn't hide the strange black metal hands the man had. Along with the coat and hands, the man wore black leg pants and matching colored boots. On the his back was what looked to be a gray back pack that the man removed and opened.

"Ah well, more material to sell I suppose."

Placing the corpse calmly inside the bag the man zipped it back up and returned it onto his back as he looked ahead.

"How much farther is this place anyways? I feel like I've been going in circles," the man sighed as he walked forward, "Still, I came all this way. Has to be something out here right? Just a matter of finding it."

He had been traveling this path for three days now. He had gotten directions from a nearby town pointing him this way and saying that the clans he was looking for lived in some sort of sanctuary. Least they think they did, he could tell the villagers hadn't really had much interaction with either of the Hashaco or Sanada, so it wouldn't surprise him if they weren't sure.

Still, it was his only real lead at the moment, so it's not like he could just ignore their word. It had been nearly three months now since he had left to find these clans at the behest of his master. It had been hard at first since he wasn't used to traveling on his own after so long, but he still managed to pull through and find a trail to follow.

The real problem was figuring out which trail was right though. The two clans were well hidden apparently and there were times his search had reached dead ends. He wouldn't be all that surprised if this trail ended up cold just like the rest.

But he had to try. If these clans could really help him find his answer, he had to push on no matter what.

"I hope you're watching me Yuna, mother."

The man closed his eyes and pushed away the painful memories.

He would find his answer....he had too.

----------------------------------------------------------------

The man blinked.

"Okay....that's....pretty cool."

He had traveled down the road for two hours and had nearly given up on expecting to find anything. It was only then that he had seen a breach in the forest perimeter and dashed forward hoping to find something, anything outside of these constantly repeating trees.

What he found took his breath away and paused his thoughts.

In front of him was a large open plain Tall grass and beautiful flowers seemed to surround the whole area and grace the field with their presence. The breeze moved along them like water as they seemed to follow the winds every movement and call. The sight itself was beautiful, but it was what was at the center that surprised him.

It was a tree. A MASSIVE tree. It was bigger than some of the tallest buildings he had come across. It's large branches and thick leaves seemed to reach to the heavens above as if trying to grasp the very sky itself, and the roots themselves were so large some seemed to have broken from the ground and form a sort of wall of dirt and wood.

It was amazing.

But at the same time.....it looked empty.

The man frowned. Moving past the flowers and grass he approached the tree calmly but anxiously.

There had to be someone right? Something this amazing, this wondrous, it wasn't something you could just ignore. There had to be a reason it was here right?

Another five minutes had passed as he finally exited the grass and was now standing at the roots of the tree.

"Is anybody here?!"

The man looked around. No response.

"Somebody? I'm looking for the Hashaco and Sanada clans! Is anyone around that knows where they are, or is a part of them?!"

Still no response. His grip on his bag seemed to tighten.

"IS ANYBODY HERE?!"

....

The man's eyes closed as he calmly put the bag down and let out a small breathe of air.

*sink..*

Suddenly the man's eyes opened as he flicked his arms outward, as his sleeves moved back revealing the same black metal on his hands surrounding both his arms, and his fingers being strangely shaped like hooked claws. The sunlight seemed to gleam in mid air all of a sudden as large gashes and cuts appeared all over the ground and in some of the thick roots, as if the air itself had come alive and brought its' wrath down upon them.

"I'M NOT PLAYING GAMES DAMMIT!! IF ANYONE IS HERE PLEASE ANSWER ME!!! I'VE COME THIS FAR AND WILL NOT GO BACK EMPTY HANDED AGAIN!!"

More gashes appeared as an entire piece of the thick branched suddenly broke in half, as if it had been sliced cleanly through.

"I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THREE MONTHS!! THREE MONTHS TO FIND YOU GUYS!! I WAS TOLD TO SEEK YOU OUT, TO BE GUIDED AND TAUGHT UNDER YOU!! THAT YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP ME!! TO SHOW ME THINGS I NEEDED TO SEE AND UNDERSTAND!!!"

More branches seemed to be sliced in half.

"SO WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!?!?"

The ground erupted apart.

"HASHACO!! SANADA!!! ANSWER ME!!!!!"

Suddenly the strange and violent attacks seemed to come to a halt as the man panted heavily and lowered his arms.

"Please......somebody...."

The man closed his eyes. Hoping, praying for a response. For a sign. For anything.

But there was nothing.

...There was always...nothing.

*sink..*

The man fell to his knees as he punched the ground with his right metal fist angrily. He wanted to scream more, to shout, to lash out. But it would be pointless. He knew this was most likely to happen. It had happened before so this should be no different.

But...it didn't stop it from hurting.

"Master...what am I supposed to do now?"

The man's fist clenched the soil tightly.

"Mother...Yuna...what do I do?"

...

A soft breeze met the man as his eyes opened slowly. His head lifted as the breeze continued to flow around him.

This feeling..

Closing his eyes and clearing his mind the man sat in silence.

Before his eyes opened as his head turned west. Grabbing his bag the man stood up and turned towards the direction the breeze had flown in.

He didn't know why. He didn't understand. But for some reason he knew he had to go that direction. Something was...he couldn't explain it, but it felt like something called to him.

Maybe he was going crazy. But as his master said, sitting around and letting things consume him wouldn't change a thing. He wasn't going to sit down and mope.

He would fight. He would keep going, keep struggling until he found what he was looking for. Until he found the answers he sought. And then..

"Just a little longer....a little longer."

The man nodded as he ran forward.

And then he would create his path.

Sirath's ears twitched as he heard the noise. "Somebody needs to calm down." He laughed slightly to himself as he saw the boy started to run forward. Sirath whistled slightly, to draw the man's attention. "You there, praytell what you are doing out here in the middle of nowhere?"

Sirath readjusted his footholds in the tree, awaiting the man's response.

Zera stopped as he heard a sharp whistle. It wasn't the whistle of the wind either.

It was-

"You there, praytell what you are doing out here in the middle of nowhere?"

Zera's eyes widened as his gaze snapped around. His eyes looked upwards towards the sound of the voice.

There...sitting on one of the branches of the tree, dressed in green and looking at him curiously, was a man. No not just a man, an elf by the look of his ears.

An elf in the middle of nowhere...like he was...

Did this mean? Had he finally?

Zera's eyes narrowed as he calmed himself.

"That depends. Are you one of the Hashaco or Sanada? If so, then I've been looking for you for some time now."

The elf smiled as as the man said the name of his clan. "I suppose I could be. At the very least, I am friends with the one called Unoti Hashaco. I can even lead you to his manor." The elf jumped from tree to tree before landing in front of the man. "I am Sirath. What is it they call you?"

Unoti Hashaco.

The name of the leader of the Hashaco clan. The name given by his master. One of the two men he was told to find.

For the first time in a long time, Zera smiled.

"Zera. And I would very much appreciate it if you could take me to meet Unoti Hashaco. I have traveled a long and far to speak with him. So your help would be a great welcome Sir Sirath."
